光纖連接器，是光纖與光纖之間進(jìn)行可拆卸（活動(dòng)）連接的器件，它把光纖的兩個(gè)端面精密對(duì)接起來，以使發(fā)射光纖輸出的光能量能大限度地耦合到接收光纖中去，用于大容量高速傳輸系統(tǒng)時(shí)，還要求反射小。并使由于其介入光鏈路而對(duì)系統(tǒng)造成的影響減到小，這是光纖連接器的基本要求。在一定程度上，光纖連接器影響了光傳輸系統(tǒng)的可靠性和各項(xiàng)性能。FC類型的連接器，采用的陶瓷插針的對(duì)接端面是平面接觸方式（FC）。此類連接器結(jié)構(gòu)簡單，操作方便，制作容易，但光纖端面對(duì)微塵較為敏感，且容易產(chǎn)生菲涅爾反射，提高回波損耗性能較為困難。后來，對(duì)該類型連接器做了改進(jìn)，采用對(duì)接端面呈球面的插針（PC），而外部結(jié)構(gòu)沒有改變，使得插入損耗和回波損耗性能有了較大幅度的提高。用于光纖間可重復(fù)插拔的連接器件，也稱光纖活動(dòng)接頭。主要性能參數(shù)（及典型值）有：插入損耗（<0.5dB）、插拔重復(fù)性及連接器間的互換性（變化量500次）
